CASIM: Breast cancer in immigrant women

The CASIM research project aims to characterize breast cancer markers, stage at diagnosis, and severity in immigrant women from sub-Saharan Africa, as well as their use of oncological care.

The objective is to determine to what extent are observed in France the significant biological, “ethno-racial”, and social disparities observed in countries that systematically include ethno-racial characteristics in their health information systems (e.g., the US or the UK). This project is an extension of medical anthropology research conducted over more than a decade in Paris and its suburbs among African women diagnosed with breast cancer. Our main approach is to compare the clinical and epidemiological data of this population with those of women from the Maghreb and of the majority population born in France.
