Mikayil Tasdemir is a PhD student in geography at Université Paris-Est Créteil and an alumnus of the École normale supérieure (ENS), Paris, under the supervision of Myriam Baron (Lab’Urba) and the co-supervision of Maria MELCHIOR (ESSMA). His doctoral research explores the experience of bipolar disorder in metropolitan environments through the lens of urban rhythms and the ways of inhabiting the city that they make possible.
A graduate of the École normale supérieure (ENS), Paris, he studied philosophy, biology, literature and geography. Alongside this training, he developed expertise in mixed-methods research through the Géoprisme master’s programme at Université Paris Cité. This dual academic background has enabled him to develop a programmatic approach to interdisciplinarity.
His research combines quantitative and qualitative methods, ranging from the analysis of metropolitan flows to the study of literary corpora and interviews with people living with bipolar disorder.
