A clinical midwife for nearly 20 years, Elisabeth IRAOLA gradually oriented her career toward research on vulnerabilities in reproductive and sexual health.

She completed her PhD in Public Health at the Institut de recherche sur les enjeux sociaux (Université Sorbonne Paris Nord), focusing on access to gynecological care and women’s perceptions of pelvic examinations after domestic and sexual violence. Her research continues to explore the intersections between violence and gynecological and obstetrical care.

Alongside her research and teaching activities at the Faculty of Health at Sorbonne Université, she also practices clinically at the Maison des Femmes (Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital), a specialized healthcare center dedicated to supporting women exposed to violence.
